What does it mean to be in darkness?
Darkness - sealed word; person with the sealed word with no understanding
You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

Revelation 22:4-5

Three things we must do when we realize we do not fully understand the true word?

2. Pour out the old teachings
3. Fill with the new teachings
What must we do to make sure we are not darkened in our hearts?
Own expectations
Accept the opinions of others (people pleasing)
Emotions
