Cover your nose/mouth with your elbow or get a tissue.

Excuse yourself to wash up.

100

You're at NECP delivering lunches. Teachers are saying thank you, what do you do?

When someone says thank you, respond politely so they know you heard them.

Some good replies may be: "You're welcome" "See you next time" or "Have a good day"

200

Someone says something in group you do not agree with, what do you do?

Everyone is allowed to have an opinion, listen and let staff direct the lesson. Take a break if needed.

You can also privately tell a trusted adult if you need further support.

200

You choose to go to Starbucks/Store and buy something, what do you do?

Practice with staff if needed.

Use a clear voice to order. Don't rely on staff to order for you, this is your personal choice to buy things in the community. Make sure you have finances at the ready in order to pay for your items.

*At the ready: wallet or money pulled out before ordering. Workers are busy, make their job easier by being prepared.

You feel the need to pass gas, what should you do?

You pass gas by accident, what should you do?

Excuse yourself to the bathroom or move away from others if you cannot leave.

Say excuse me. Assess how your stomach is feeling, ask yourself do I need the bathroom? Act accordingly.

200

You're getting in/out of the van/MBTA, what should you do?

Move quickly and safely so others can get in/out too. Say hello or thank you to the driver.

200

You're working at Cradles to Crayons and have to package an item you do not like, what do you do?

This is an oh well moment. Accept that some days you will be able to choose your task and other days you will need to be a good teammate. We are there to help, not be picky!

300

Someone asks you to turn down your volume or use headphones so your audio doesn't disturb the space, what should you do?

Use headphones or turn off the sound. Use a different space if available.

300

You call the elevator, where should you stand?

Near the elevator with enough space to let people out.

300

You come in from a hot day, your body is sweaty, what should you do?

Freshen up in the bathroom, use paper towels and water to wipe away sweat. Bring extra deodorant to reapply on warm weather days.

300

You just ate lunch, what should you do?

You barely made a mess, what should you do?

Wipe down the table so it is clean for the next group or others using the space. If you used any dishes, wash them immediately so others may use the sink.

Even if you did not make a visible mess, germs are invisible, clean up anyways!

300

You are at City Hall and your supervisor is out, you need to rely on your work resources, what do you do?

Go to the purchasing office to ask the staff for help. Let your job coach know that is the plan.

400

Someone keeps repeating the same question, statement, or body movement. You feel uncomfortable, what do you do?

Use a clear and polite voice to set a boundary (an unchangeable expectation) if you feel able to. Try, "I would appreciate if you don't ask me that in the future."

Take a break if needed, let someone know you need space.

If this does not help, seek out help from a trusted adult.

A staff has directed you to put your phone away multiple times and you have not. They instruct you to keep your phone away for the rest of the day, what do you do?

Listen politely and accept their instruction (put away your phone).

Take a break if needed to regulate (calm your body and mind).

If you are unable to follow instruction from staff, you are also unable to interact with technology in group.

400

You want to wear your headphones at work but your job requires you to listen to others, what do you do?

Keep them out. This is a rule/expectation and not a negotiation. You can use them during breaks/after/before work.

Your shift is for working, not leisure.

500

You want to be in front of everyone while walking, open the door, and be first getting on and off the bus/MBTA.

Your peer goes in front of you, opens the door, and gets on and off the bus before you. What do you do?

Emotionally, remind yourself you want to help because you care but, we have a lot of caring peers and people moving from one place to another.

Physically, open the door when it is appropriate and there is enough space. Focus on your body and getting place to place safely.

Remember: Being first does not mean you are the best and we are only able to do the things we enjoy when we respond appropriately.

500

You are waiting at the bus stop, you want to sit but someone has their belongings spread out on the seat, what do you do?

Ask politely with a clear voice if you feel comfortable. "Can I please sit here?" "Do you mind moving your things so I can sit?"

*This may not always work as we cannot control other people, the bus will come eventually, challenge yourself to stay standing sometimes.

500

You have an accident while at school, you need to change and transition back to group with your peers, what should you do?

It's OKAY! Everyone can have an accident.

Do not sit in it, this is unsafe for your health.

Tell a trusted adult you need to change and gather your belongings then head to the restroom.

Confidently get yourself back to group knowing you did the right thing!

500

It's reflection time and you're all done, what should you do?

Clean up your home-base so you can come in prepared the next day. Is there trash? Papers? Coloring sheets?

Put away computer/device. Pack up belongings so you are ready for dismissal.

You need to make a decision about going to work, what do you do when you are:

1. Sick

2. Late

3. Moody

1. Call/E-mail your work to inform someone you are sick and need to call out. Wait for a reply or response to ensure someone knows where you are.

2. Call/E-mail/Chat your boss/Ryan and let them know you are running late and your expected time of arrival.

3. Use a coping tool/strategy to turn your mood around. If you feel that your mood will effect your work, call out by telling your supervisor/Ryan ASAP.
