What is the protocol for releasing students?
The center must release the child only to an individual over the age of sixteen (16) for whom written authorization has been given by the parent(s)/guardian(s) and is maintained in the child's record. In an emergency, the child may be also released to an individual for whom the child's parent/guardian has given verbal authorization. If the staff member who releases the child does not know the individual, identification must be required to assure that the individual is authorized to pick up the child. When can a teacher begin to toilet train a student in their classroom?
#1 There must be no attempt to toilet train children until they are able to communicate or otherwise indicate need, help manage their own clothing, and be able to access toileting facilities.

What is the policy per licensing of smoking on campus?
Staff must not use marijuana and marijuana infused products of any kind, or alcohol in the presence of children. To prevent exposure to secondhand smoke, childcare centers must prohibit the use of tobacco and marijuana products on all center property, both indoors and outdoors.

Throughout the day, each child must have frequent, individual, personal contact, and attention from an adult, such as being held, rocked, taken on walks inside and outside of the center, talked to, read to and sung to.

Should an infant be held during feeding? Up to what age?
All infants less than six (6) months of age must be held for bottle feeding. Bottles must not be propped. Older infants must not be allowed to hold their own bottles when lying flat. Bottles must not be allowed in a crib with the infant.

How often should sensory tables be cleaned out?
Sensory tables and other play tables shall be maintained in a clean and sanitary manner. Sensory tables, when filled with water, shall be emptied after use by each group of children and at least daily. If organic material (i.e. beans, pasta, rice, or other food items) are used in sensory tables, the materials may be used for a maximum of one week and then the materials shall be discarded.

Outside of meal times, children who are awake must not be confined for more than fifteen minutes at a time to cribs, playpens, swings, highchairs, infant seats, or other equipment that confines movement. Children must have the opportunity for freedom of gross motor movement.

How long can an infant cry for while putting to sleep?
Staff must investigate whenever children cry, scream, or appear to withdraw and must try to verbally or physically soothe the child. When putting infants to sleep, staff may allow for a period of no longer than ten (10) minutes without verbally or physically soothing the child to enable the infant to try to self soothe and fall asleep.
