The Spanish took control of the land and ruled for almost 300 years. Spanish colonists brought many things with them as they moved to this area, such as -wheel, donkeys, horses, and oxen. All of these helped with farming. The Spanish also brought their language. Most people still speak Spanish in Mexico today...in fact, it's the largest Spanish-speaking country in the world!
