What is the classroom rules around using AI?

With AI growing in its application to many different aspects of life I find it pertinent to be clear in my student expectations. Students are expected to produce work that is their own. Students should not use AI to avoid the thinking and application of knowledge part of answering questions. This course will extensively test you on your reasoning skills. AI modalities such as Google Gemini can hinder you in building these skills. In addition, AI is often incorrect or misleading when discussing scientific principles and can harm more than help if you are confused on a subject. I recognize that some AI is beneficial and those modalities will be used and accepted in class after I, Ms. Gallagher, as explicitly stated they are allowed.
