When should you stop CPR?
1. EMS takes over
2. Guest starts showing signs of life
3. You are unable to continue safely
What is a 10/20?
It should take 10 seconds to scan the entire zone and 20 seconds to reach the furthest point of the zone
FAST stands for what?
FAST is used to identify a stroke
Face- Ask the person to smile, is it uneven?
Arms- Ask the person to raise both arms, does one drift down?
Speech- Ask the person to talk, do the words sound strange?
Time to act- If yes, call 911 immediately
Blood coming out of the nose
Nosebleed/Bloody Nose
- Pinch nose with gauze
- Tilt head forward
- Call 911 if there's still significant bleeding after 20 minutes
At what rate should chest compressions be done?
100-120 Beats Per Minute (BPM)
RID stands for what?
The RID factor
Recognition- The lifeguard did not recognize that the person was in distress or drowning.
Intrusion- The lifeguard was not attentive enough because of other tasks like water testing or moving lane lines.
Distraction- The lifeguard was distracted because they were bored, engaged in a conversation, or involved in some other activity other than guarding.
Where do AED pads go on a child/infant?
One on the chest, one on the back, exactly as shown in the pictures.
When should the ease-in entry be used?
If the person is close, if the area is crowded, if the water is shallow, or you suspect that a person has an injury.

1. Every two hours
