What is: A sign is objective and clear to the examiner. This could be a high temperature, pale complexion, or visible injuries such as bruises or swelling. A symptom is subjective. This is an explanation by the guest and is typically a feeling. Symptoms cannot be measured. Examples of symptoms are nausea, dizziness, and feeling lightheaded.
