Rub your eye because you could scratch your cornea.

200

Why do your pupils get larger in the dark and smaller in the light?

When light is transmitted through an object, what happens to it?

Light that is transmitted passes straight through the object without changing its path.

Describe what you can see in a cave when a flashlight is on and when the flashlight is off.

When the flashlight is on, you can see your surroundings. When the flashlight is off, you can't see anything because there is no light source.

300

Tell me three facts about your retina.

1. It is at the back of your eye.

2. It acts like a screen where the light can focus.

3. The image appears upside down on your retina.

Explain what happened to our eyes when we turned the lights off in our classroom vs. when we turned them off in the computer lab. Why did this happen?

When we turned the lights off in our classroom, there was still light coming in so our eyes adjusted to be able to see. When we turned the lights off in the computer lab, there was no light source, so our eyes couldn't detect any light.

500

What is the purpose of the lens inside the eye?

It focuses the light as it comes through the pupil in order to make it hit the retina just right to create an image.

500

What could cause you to be completely blind? (Hint: What parts of your eye would not be functioning correctly?)

Your retina does not work correctly or your optic nerve is not able to pass information on to your brain.

How much light is able to be transmitted through a transparent, translucent, and opaque object?

Transparent: all light

Translucent: some light

Opaque: no light
