Name that material
Vocab
Can you see it?
Application
100

This material reflects 100% of light and transmits 0%

What is a mirror?

100

This word means to bounce off.

What is reflect?
100

True or false: If we didn't have light we would still be able to see the object.

What is false?

100

Your eye receives many inputs during the day, when it is processing these inputs, this is the one it tends to process before others.

What is the stronger input?

200

This material transmit about 80% of light and reflects about 20%.

What is glass?

200

This word means to pass through something

What is transmit?

200

This part of the eye flattens and curves so it can focus the eye

What is the lens?

200

We see because this all has to happen.

What is light from a light source to an object that reflects light and then goes to our eyes or we have to have path of light and line of sight line up?

300

This material roughly transmits 50% and reflects about 50%.

What is a One way mirror?

300

anything that gives off light, either artificial or natural

What is a light source?

300

This part of the eye takes the light signals in the back of the eye.

What is the Retina?

300

In the diagram below, there is no light in the music teacher's room but light has to enter in order for use to see where is the light coming from?

What is light is transmitting through the one way mirror and reflecting off back to the student?

400

This keeps light from transmitting through glass.

What is dust or dirt or impurities?

400

a material that allows light to pass through so that objects behind can be seen

What is transparent?

400

In order for us to see, light has to reflect off an object, but it also has to be in this.

What is line of sight?
400

Below is a picture of light hitting the one way mirror.  Using the picture why would this keep more light out of a room?

What is one way mirror film gives 50% transmitting and 50% reflecting.  This would make less light go into a room.
500

This is the reflective material in the back of a mirror and also the reflective part of a One way mirror.

What is the silvering?

500

When light passes through a material that causes it to change direction

What is refract?

500

light travels in this way.

What is a straight line?

500

Using the picture what happens when light travels to the eye? Remember to add what each part does!

What is light enters the eye throught he cornea that is clear, then through the pupil, which has the job of capturing light.  The pupil is controlled by the iris that controls how much light comes in or goes out.  This then goes through the lens that flattens and and curves to help focus the light entering on the back of the Retina, the Retina that takes that signal that reaches it and gives it to the optic nerve.  It travels to the brain by the optic nerve.  The brain takes the colors and flips the image and creates the picture.  It processes the stronger input before others.
