Thermometer
A machine utilizing one or more revolving blades to cut a grass surface to an even height.
Lawn mower
Pincers with parallel, flat, and typically serrated surfaces, used chiefly for gripping small objects or bending wire.
Pliers
A piece of a soft, light, porous absorbent substance usually made of synthetic material, used for washing and cleaning.
Sponge
An implement with two or more prongs used for lifting food to the mouth or holding it when cutting.
Fork
Face mask
An ancient and versatile agricultural and horticultural hand tool used to shape soil, remove weeds, clear soil, and harvest root crops.
Hoe
A tool with a flattened or cross-shaped tip that fits into the head of a screw to turn it.
Screwdriver
Designed to keep you safe from hazards including cuts, chemical burns, abrasion, crushing or contact with biohazards.
Rubber, latex or protective gloves
An instrument composed of a blade fixed into a handle, used for cutting.
Knife
Used for dissecting or cutting.
(Surgical) scissors
A tool with a long handle for digging, lifting, and moving bulk materials.
Shovel
An instrument marked with a line parallel to the plane of the horizon for testing whether things are horizontal (or straight).
Level
Used to soak up liquid, for cleaning floors and other surfaces, to clean up dust, or for other cleaning purposes.
Mop
A device for pulling corks from bottles, consisting of a spiral metal rod that is inserted into the cork, and a handle that extracts it. (You wine makers should know this off the top of your heads.)
Corkscrew
A small and extremely sharp bladed instrument used for surgery, anatomical dissection, podiatry and various arts and crafts.
Scalpel
A tool consisting of a toothed bar or tines fixed to a handle, and used to collect leaves, hay, grass, etc. Basically, a broom for outside use.
Garden rake
An instrument designed to measure electric current, voltage, and usually resistance, typically over several ranges of value. (I used one to test my dryer's connections.)
Multimeter
An electrical apparatus that by means of suction collects dust and small particles from floors and other surfaces.
Vacuum cleaner
A cylinder rolled over pastry or dough to flatten or shape it.
Rolling pin
An acoustic medical device for auscultation or listening to internal sounds of an animal or human body.
Stethoscope
An agricultural hand tool for mowing grass or harvesting crops. It is traditionally used to cut down or reap edible grains, before the process of threshing. Probably used a lot by the Amish people.
Scythe
A small, hand-held device used to strip the electrical insulation from electric wires.
Wire-stripper
A non-electric cleaning tool, used for sweeping floors etc. It is commonly used in combination with a dustpan.
Broom/brush
A device having a surface covered with holes edged by slightly raised cutting edges, may be used to 'cut' the cheese.
