A comparison NOT using like or as

Repetition of beginning consonant sounds

Generalized ideas about a character
What is stereotype?
A concrete object that stands for abstract ideas (like a flag)

Person telling the story, first or third usually.
What is the point of view?
A recurring idea or image or item in a literary work

person/voice telling the story
What is narrator?
Conclusion based on small facts
What is inference?
The way an author uses words for a purpose
What is style?
A character whose purpose is to call attention to the qualities of another (very different) character
