What is an Adjective?
An Adjective is a word that describes a noun or pronoun. Ex. Her GREEN eyes looked into mine.

It means one thing but is describing another. Shows abstract ideas and paints picture in readers mind.

The mood is the atmosphere or feeling created through description of plot and setting.

Imagery is descriptive language that awakes one of the five senses. (etc. touch, smell, taste, sound, feel.)

A literal question that deals with straight content. Right there in the text. Ex. What colour was Crabbe's canoe?

A proper noun is a formal name. Ex. Trenton and always contains a capital. It is also specific.

A simile is a comparison of two different things. Ex. My ears buzzed like a mosquito.

Plot is the events in a story. It usually has five elements. The exposition (set up), rising action, climax, falling action and resolution.

What is Foreshadowing?
Foreshadowing is when the author is writing between the lines to hint at something that is about to happen. This gives the reader a clue at what might happen later in the text.

An inferential question most of the answer is in the text but you have to solve the rest of the answer with the text you have. Ex. Why did Mary leave her job at the university?

A common noun is not specific. Ex. school

A symbol is an object that represents something else. Ex. Rainbow is a symbol of hope.

Tone is the atmosphere or mood the reader gets from reading the story. Ex. sarcastic, light, happy.

Dialogue is a conversation between characters. To indicate dialogue, a new paragraph is used and quotation marks at the beginning and end of sentence.

An interpretive question is based off text but to each reader the answer is different. Ex. Did Mary kill herself on purpose?

A verb is a word that expresses an action. Ex. I ran.

Conflict is the struggle or problem that the main character has to solve or face. The four types are, human v.s self, human v.s human, human v.s nature and human v.s society.

Multiple choice questions are forms of assessment in which respondents are asked to select the best possible answers out of the choices from a list. Ex. Is Crabbe about: a) Survival b) Ego c) a and b
