When we are playing a game, playing a sport, lining up, eating a meal, watching tv…

– waiting
– taking turns & sharing
– offer new choices
How can you leave the room politely?
Don't interrupt! We can say “bye!” “see you later!” “have a good day!” etc.
When do we have to wait at school?
For the bus, for lunch, for our teacher to call on us, for a turn with a toy/game, for our teacher to be done talking... etc.
When somebody thinks or feels differently than us, are they wrong?
What happens if you're not a good sport?
People might be confused or scared
People will think it’s not fun
People will not want to play with me anymore
What happens if we don't compromise?
-you may argue
-you may not get to do the activity, watch the movie, or play the game
-you run out of time!
-your friends may get upset
-your friends may not want to play with you anymore
What should we do if we come back from the bathroom and everyone is working quietly on their laptops?
Get out our laptop and get to work!
When do we have to wait at home?
When our friend wants to go to the park but it's raining, how do you think they feel?

Not caring about winning or losing too much

What can we do while we wait?
Talk to friends or adults, Take slow, deep breaths, Positive self talk: say to yourself “it’s okay, I will have a turn to talk soon,” a calm activity (fidgets, coloring, listen to music, etc.)
When our friend wants to go to the park but it's raining, what can we do to support them?
Invite them to play, come up with a fun idea to do inside, tell them you understand how they feel!

So everyone can have fun
So people want to play with us
So people enjoy spending time with us
