Classification
100
The system that runs through plants from the soil to the leaves?
Xylem Tubes.
100
What are the main parts of the nervous system?
The brain, spinal cord, and all the nerves of your body.
100
What substance transports oxygen and nutrients through your body to all of your cells?
blood
100
What are the main parts of the respiratory system?
The trachea, lungs, and the diaphragm
100
What are the veins in leaves? Xylem tubes or Phloem tubes?
Xylem tubes.
200
What is the system that runs through plants from the leaves into the plant?
Phloem Tubes.
200
What is the control center of the nervous system?
The brain.
200
What blood vessels carry oxygen-rich blood away from your heart?
arteries
200
What is the function of the respiratory system?
The function of the respiratory system is to bring oxygen to the red blood cells and get rid of carbon dioxide.
200
How is the circulatory system in humans and the vascular system in plants different?
The circulatory system uses the heart to pump blood which circulates throughout the body to deliver nutrients and oxygen while also getting rid of carbon dioxide. The circulatory system has three types of veins: arteries, veins, and capillaries. The vascular system of a plant transports nutrients in one direction - from the leaves down to the remaining parts of the plant through tubes called the phloem. The plant vascular system also transports water and minerals in one direction - from the roots up to the rest of the plant through tubes called called xylem. The phloem and xylem form vascular bundles.
300
What are the specialized structures that combine the Xylem and the Phloem Tubes?
Vascular Bundles
300
What is the function of the nervous system?
The nervous systems controls everything: including breathing, walking, thinking, and feeling.
300
What blood vessels carry oxygen depleted blood towards your heart?
veins
300
Where do the red blood cells get their oxygen from?
Red blood cells get their oxygen from the air you breathe.
300
How are the circulatory system in humans similar to vascular systems in plants?
Both are a system of veins or "tubes" that transport nutrients for survival and both help to eliminate waste.
400
What type of leaf has one main vein with smaller veins branching off?
pinnate
400
How are signals sent to and from the brain?
Signals are sent through the spinal cord.
400
What part of the circulatory system carries oxygen to the cells?
red blood cells
400
What is the main function of the left side of the human heart?
The left side of the human heart pumps oxygen-rich blood through the arteries and into the body.
400
What are the three classes of leaves?
palmate, pinnate, and parallel
500
What type of leaf has five main veins that start from one central point?
Palmate leaves
500
What is the function of nerves?
The function of nerves is to carry messages to and from the body, so the brain can interpret them and take action.
500
What blood vessel delivers blood that each human cell needs to survive?
capillaries
500
What is the main function of the right side of the human heart?
The right side of the human heart pushes oxygen-depleted blood into the lungs to release carbon dioxide and take in oxygen.
500
What type of leaf has vein patterns that run side by side?
Parallel leaves
