John 1:12 says we become children of God by receiving and believing in Jesus. What does "receive" Him mean- not just believing in your head?
it means to accept Him into your life as Lord and Savior, surrender to Him and trust Him personally, not just know ABOUT Him but truly know Him.
Why does sin deserve death if God is loving?
Because God is also a holy and just God. Sin goes against His perfect nature. A loving God must deal with sin's seriousness. That is why God sent Jesus to take our place.
What does it mean that Jesus was our substitute and why it matters?
Jesus lived a perfect life we couldn't live and died the death we deserved. He took our punishment so we could be forgiven. Without a subsitute, we couldnt be saved.
What does be a living sacrifice mean in Romans 12:1-2?
offering your whole life to God, not just once but daily, by not copying the world but letting God transform how you think and live.
What is the Book of Life? Why is it mentioned?
It is God's record of those who have eternal life through Jesus. If your name is not in the Book of Life, you will face final judgment (Rev. 20:15)
