What is The Occupational Safety and Health Administration optimal range of oxygen in the air for humans
1926.1200 Subpart AA
What is the Confined Space in Construction Standard
The action by which a person's hand, head or body passes through an opening into a Permit-Required Confined Space
What is an Entry?
Boilers, Furnaces, Storage Tanks, and Bins are confined spaces
What is True?
Entry permits must be posted here prior to entering a confined space?
What is At the entrance to the confined space
PEL
What is Permissible Exposure Limit
A hazardous gas that has the odor of rotten eggs and can dull your sense of smell
What is Hydrogen Sulfide?
The printed document that is provided to allow and control entry into a confined space
What is the entry permit?
Vapor density is an important factor to consider when planning ventilation
What is True
It important to detect gases such as carbon monoxide and hydrogen sulfide before entry into a confined space
What is They are toxic at low concentrations
LEL or LFL
What is Lower Explosive Limit or Lower Flammable Limit
The weight of a chemical compared to air
What is Vapor Density
The person that remains outside the space to summon emergency help if needed
What is the Attendant?
Once a job is complete and the permit is canceled, the canceled permits are required to be kept
What is One year?
The atmosphere within the space must be continuously monitored
What is True
unless the entry employer can demonstrate that equipment for continuous monitoring is not commercially available
The minimum number of people required for a confined space entry team
What is Two (2)
PRCS
What is Permit Required Confined Space
A simple asphyxiant
What is Carbon Monoxide?
The person who authorizes the entry
What is the Entry Supervisor
The proper order of pre-entry testing
What is oxygen, flammability and toxicity (OFT)
The attendant can leave the confined space area when the attendant is trained and equipped to perform rescue and another trained attendant relieves them of the attendant duty.
What is True?
This type of ventilation should be used when the vapor density of a gas or vapor is heavier than air
What is Local Exhaust
OSHA
What is Occupational Safety and Health Administration
Considered hazardous when the alarm of the CGI sounds.
What is 10% of the LEL
The employer that has overall responsibility for construction at the worksite.
What is the Controlling Contractor (General Contractor)
According to the OSHA 1926.1200 Subpart AA, the main characteristic makes a confined space a Permit Required Confined space
What is: Contains or has a potential to contain a
hazardous atmosphere
An employer may use the alternate procedures for entering a permit required confined space
What is True?
The employer can demonstrate that all physical hazards in the space are
eliminated or isolated through engineering controls so that the only hazard
posed by the permit space is an actual or potential hazardous atmosphere;
(ii) The employer can demonstrate that continuous forced air ventilation alone
is sufficient to maintain that permit space safe for entry, and that, in the
event the ventilation system stops working, entrants can exit the space
safely;
(iii) The employer develops monitoring and inspection data that supports the
demonstrations
Name three types of confined space rescue
What is; 1) Self- rescue, is the preferred plan. Whenever authorized entrants recognize their own symptoms of exposure to a dangerous atmosphere, and are still able to escape. 2) Non-entry rescue, prevents additional personnel from being exposed to unidentified and/or uncontrolled confined space hazards. 3) Entry, rescuer provide the victim with emergency assistance such as CPR/first aid. An entry rescue plan needs to be developed ahead of time.
