Means "light-dark". Uses light and shadow to create volume. Takes a light source, makes a highlight and creates a shadow

What was the major difference between Medieval art and more modern "Renaissance" art?
Medieval art was flat, not very realistic, and no/little shading. "Renaissance" art was more realistic and various artistic techniques were used.
