What is the main difference between innate and adaptive immunity?

Think of innate immunity as your body’s "first responders." It’s the immediate, general defense you’re born with (like your skin or white blood cells) that attacks any invader the same way. Adaptive immunity is like a "specialized task force." It takes longer to kick in because it has to identify the specific enemy, but once it does, it creates a custom attack and "remembers" that enemy for the rest of your life.
