-To comply with Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals specimen must always be labeled with at least two patient identifiers. Our standard is Patients full legal name and date of birth. After the patient has positively identified their self-label the specimen. 

  • Match newly printed label to identification already on specimen.  

  • Place EHR laboratory label just below/next to primary identifier(s) on existing label, maintaining visibility of prior identification.
