This act begins with Macbeth having doubts about murdering the King, but he soon talks himself into following through with the murder. Macbeth is unable to finishes the murder, as a result Lady Macbeth is forced to finish the deed. The next morning, Macduff and Lennox arrive at Macbeth's, where Macduff discovers the dead body of King Duncan. All are shocked and Macbeth denies everything. The guards are immediately suspect and Macbeth quickly kills them to cover up any loose-ends. Malcolm and Donalbain, the King's sons, flee the castle because they are afraid that they will be blamed for the murder of their father.
