Inside of a compass, there is a magnet that always attracts to the north pole of the earth! The needles always points NORTH!

Because the device has parts inside that are made of iron or steel and the magnet will attract them, causing them to break off of their correct place.

We used a ruler and had a paperclip at the end. We slid that magnet down the ruler and recorded which number the magnet was at when the paperclip attracted to the magnet.

An MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) machine uses magnetism to work. What is an MRI machine used for? 

Doctors use an MRI machine to look inside peoples body's without using surgery. It is similar to an X-RAY of your bones.
