There are a variety of types of bird beaks. Each type of beak helps a bird obtain its food. A short, hooked beak is useful for birds of prey. A bird of prey is an animal that hunts its food. This type of beak is sharp and enables a bird to rip what it catches easily.

More than 200 years ago, an engineer was trying to drill a tunnel under a river, but each attempt failed. The walls kept falling in. Then he saw how shipworms bored through wood. The animal uses a tough shield to drill. Then it builds a hard tube along the tunnel walls. What a great idea! The engineer copied the shipworm to build the Thames Tunnel. As he drilled, workers lined the tunnel walls with bricks.

Some rabbits change their fur with the seasons. In the summer, they have thinner coats with short fur. As the weather cools, their fur grows longer and thicker. Spring brings more changes to a rabbit's appearance. The warm coat is no longer needed and the animal molts. Rabbits shed their dense coats in the spring. It gathers on bushes and shrubs.

Camouflage is the name given to anything that helps an animal blend in with its surroundings. Some animals use camouflage to keep from harm. Others use it to get food. Tigers have stripes that help them blend in with tall grass. A tiger can then catch its food without being seen. All of the stripes confuse predators. The predator can't tell if they are looking at an animal of the shadow of a tree.
