Can you take classes during your vacation semester?
Yes!
You have gotten married, and are in the process of applying for permanent residency (green card), what happens with your F-1 status?
Nothing. As long as you are maintaining the F-1 regulations, including work restrictions.
What documents are needed to re-enter the US?
1. a Valid Visa
2. A passport that will not expire for at least 6 months from the date you enter
3. A printed Form I-20 with a travel signature
What is the rule for online classes in your final semester with an RCL?
You are required to attend in person both blocks. The government allows you to take one course online, but at least half of your credits need to be taken in person.
What's the earliest can you transfer your record to a new school?
5 months from the start of your new program
Can I do a full-time internship during a vacation semester?
Yes! The only time you can do a full-time internship. (More to come on this!)
Your Form I-20 is going to expire, but you have one semester of classes left before you graduate. What can you do?
What is Automatic Revalidation?
F-1 students who have an expired visa can travel to Canada, Mexico and some other islands for fewer than 30 days and be permitted to re-enter the US with the expired visa.
How many Medical RCL's are permitted?
1 Year worth of RCLs. However, we date them for the whole semester. So you can have 3 semesters of an RCL.
Can you request to have your SEVIS record transferred while classes are in session?
Depends- you will need to drop your classes here to have your record transferred. Be sure to check the academic calendar.
Can you take classes online while on vacation?
Yes! But you still need to be in the US when you are enrolled in classes. A short trip out of the US is okay, but you are only authorized to be a student while in the US.

When would you have to fill out a Form I-515A?
"Notice to Student or Exchange Visitor" - issued by Customs and Border Protection (CPB) if you attempt to enter the US without a paper Form I-20.

Medical doctor (MD)
Doctor of Osteopathy (MO)
Licensed Psychologist (LP)

How can a vacation impact your CPT authorization eligibility?
1. If you take a break before you complete two consecutive semesters (academic year), you will delay your eligibility.
