My mother grew up in Toronto, Canada

FALSE! I graduated with honors with a degree in English from York University!

I lived abroad for a little over 4 years (2011-2015) in Istanbul, Turkey

False! I did live in Turkey, but in a small city a little OUTSIDE Istanbul called Kocaeli

When I was 9 my father passed away after a battle with cancer

TRUE! This left my mom to care for me and my brother as a single mother

My father grew up in Prague, (what was then known as) Czechoslovakia

TRUE! During the Velvet Revolution my father and his brother and mother and father travelled to Canada

I got my first Masters degree at U of T

TRUE! I focused on education with an initial plan of working in education coordination but realized that being within a learning environment is what truly makes me excited and happy

I taught ESL in Turkey to adults

When I was working overseas I lost both my grandmother and grandfather
