What is a consequence?
This is what happens after you make a choice.
You see trash on the floor

A student laughs at someone who dropped their pencil and walks away without helping.
Bad choice.
Good choices typically lead to...?
Positive outcomes/condequences
A classmate bumps into you and you feel really angry.
What would you do?
Take a breath
Use kind words
Ask for help
You feel uncomfortable with something your friends want you to do, but don’t want to lose friends. You then decide to do what your friend tells you to so you can impress them.
Bad Choice.
You are kind to others every day.
People like and trust you!
A classmate starts spreading rumors about someone.
ignore, tell a trusted adult.
Jonny is playing at recess and he is hanging out with a new group of friends. He is having a great time until his friend wanted you to skip the line with him during kickball by pushing others out of the way. Johnny thinks and realizes he has two options to make. What should he do?

You bully someone.
You hurt others, people keep their distance.
You make a joke, everyone laughs, but one person looks upset.

What is a natural consequence?
An outcome that happens automatically
Example:
You don’t wear a coat in winter.
What happens? You feel cold
Your friend tells you a secret about something serious they did. Then they say,
“If you tell anyone, I won’t be your friend anymore.”
Tell a trusted adult especially if the secret could hurt someone or is serious. A real friend should not threaten you or make you feel uncomfortable.
Keeping someone safe is more important than keeping a secret. Good friendships are based on trust and respect not threats.
