Lo Baan should be plugged in 30-40 minutes before Dua and left for 10-15 minutes. Carefully unplug it from the bottom (as the top part is hot) and walk around Khane with it before placing it safely in the kitchen, away from plastic or the microwave.

300

On Laylat al Qadr, a Jamati member asks you to keep their token/dry Nandi in the Nandi room so they can pick it up later in the night when they leave. As you walk into the Nandi room, the area is crowded with Nandis from regular JK and 1st Majlis. What should you do?

Explain in detail from start to finish what the Nandi responsibilities are on Navorz? (Name at least eight)

Volunteers will carefully pickup the Nandi from the stand, and grab the chit(small white paper with Nandi dollar amount)

If a nandi is Mehmani, DO NOT take Nandi off stand(Milk and Darbari Mehmani)

To avoid any confusion, volunteers will ask/confirm with the Nandi person whose Nandi it is

Take the Nandi to the person/kitchen

If Nandi has a token, take Nandi to the REC principle room or Kitchen

Volunteers will carry the Nandi to the REC room, place it on the table, and grab the token and the chit

In a loud voice, tell the person receiving the Nandi: “Ya Ali Madad!”  and the Nandi amount

Collect the money and go towards the seva paat

In a *loud and calm* voice, tell the amount to the seva person(do not do the math of how much is left) by handing the money in their hand. Wait patiently for the Seva person and double count to ensure the correct change is given.

If there is any change left, return the money back to the person in their hand

Volunteers will then come back in the Nandi line and follow the same process

*On Fridays and Majlis younger youth volunteers should be paired with and adult volunteer! We need adult volunteers on these big days!!*

500

You have been assigned the task of being the Nandi transporter on Navroz. Due to the high number of Jamati members present, there is a lot of commotion in the Nandi and Social Hall. Many individuals are crowding the center of the social hall, even after being requested by the inside safety volunteer to move to the side. Tape is already placed on the ground to block off the center pathway but Jamati members are not following the protocols. Because of the commotion, the Nandi person is unable to hear one of the members who are bidding for the Nandi and this leads to the Jamati member getting angry. What are the 2 things you should do immediately?

  1. Ask the Jamati members that are blocking the path in a strong, polite voice to move to the side so that Nandi can run smoothly. If they do not listen, go to the Team Lead so they can pause Nandi until the commotion is reduced and the Jamati members clear the pathway.

  2. Immediately go to the Team Lead and let them know what is going on so they can handle the Jamati member that is getting angry. Stay as far away as you can from the scene and ask people to talk softly so that no other confusions and disputes occur during Nandi.
