In Math fractions explain the "Order of Operation"

You must X or divide, before you can + or -

100

 Define the math term "median"

Median=is the middle number of the data set.

Put all the numbers in order from lowest to the highest, the middle number is the MEDIAN.

100

Explain a 'clause"

is a group of words that includes at least a subject and a verb.

100

Describe a "preposition phrase"

Hint: It that never includes the subject

...a word or group of words, that shows direction, locations, or time, or introduces an object.

Describe a "acute angle"

An angle smaller than a 90 degree (right angle)

200

Describe these two:

Circumference

Diameter

Circumference is the distance (the perimeter) around a circle.

Diameter is a cord (a line segment whose endpoints are on the circle) that passes through the CENTER of the circle.

200

Define the math term "mode"

Mode=is the number that appears the MOST.

NOTE: IF THERE ARE TWO NUMBERS THAT APPEAR MOST OFTEN THEN THE DATA HAS TWO MODES, CALLED BIMODAL. (Bi means two)

IF THERE ARE MORE THAN 2, THEN THE DATA WOULD BE CALLED MULTIMODAL (Multi means more than two)

IF ALL THE NUMBERS APPEAR THE SAME NUMBER OF TIMES, THEN THE DATA SET HAS no MODES.

How can you tell phrases and clauses apart?

* A phrase does NOT have a subject that acts through a verb.

* A clause DOES have a subject that acts through a verb.

200

Describe a "noun Phrase"

...is a phrase that acts like a noun, it identifies a person, place or thing.

Example: A royal chef baked approximately 24 pies.

200

Reduce 2/4 to its lowest term which would be what?

1/2

300

A polynomial equation with two terms usually joined by a plus or minus sign is called what?

Binomials . They are used in algebra.

300

Define the math term "range".

Range= is the "difference" between the lowest number and the highest number.

Example: 100 and 75 the range would be 25.

100-75=25

300

Are these two examples a phrase or a clause?

"In the nick of time"

"Tripping merrily along"

Phrases.

The first example has no verb.

The second has no subject.

Example: These strange rocks may be worth a fortune.

300

Define an "obtuse angle"

An angle larger than a right angle (larger than a 90 degree angle)

400

Polynomials with one term will be called a monomial and could look like 7x.  What is it called if it has two terms?

A polynomial with two terms is called a binomial; it could look like 3x + 9It is easy to remember binomials as bi means 2 and a binomial will have 2 terms.

400

Define the math term "Mean"

Mean=is the average of a data set when totaled up then divided by the number of numbers of the column.

Example: if you have 3 different numbers that total to 99. Divide that total 99 by 3=means.

80 + 9 + 10 =99

400

In the two examples, are they a phrase of a clause?

Convert 1/2 to its decimal form

0.50

500

A polynomial can have:

-constants (like 3, −20, or ½)

-variables (like x and y)

-exponents (like the 2 in y2), but only 0, 1, 2, 3, ... etc are allowed that can be combined using addition, subtraction, multiplication and division ...

What is the exception to the rule?

... not division by a variable (so something like 2/x is right out)

A polynomial can have constants, variables and exponents, but never division by a variable.

500

What is the math term an Equation mean?

An equation says that two things are equal. It will have an equals sign "=" like this: x+2=6

500

Describe and "independent clause" and a "dependent clause"

Independent Clause: is a clause that can stand alone.

Example: I  went to the bonfire after the game.

Dependent Clause: is a clause that can NOT stand alone.

Example: When the circus gets to town, we'll go to see the elephants.
