THE TRANSFIGURATION
Some standing here will not taste this till they see the kingdom of God present with power.
TASTE DEATH.
THIS IS A REFERENCE TO THOSE WHO WOULD WITNESS THE TRANSFIGURATION AS WELL AS TO THOSE IN EVERY GENERATION WHO WILL EXPERIENCE THE PRESENCE OF GOD'S KINGDOM.
Jesus' command for the disciples as they came down from the mountain.
THAT THEY SHOULD TELL NO ONE THE THINGS THEY HAD SEEN, TILL THE SON OF MAN HAD RISEN FROM THE DEAD.
People Jesus saw around the disciples when He came to them.
A GREAT MULTITUDE AROUND THEM, AND SCRIBES DISPUTING WITH THEM.
Place where Jesus was passing through when He did not want anyone to know it because He wanted to spend time privately with His disciples.
PASSED THROUGH GALILEE.
Place where Jesus asks disciples what they were disputing among themselves with on the road.
WHEN HE HAD COME TO CAPENAUM AND WAS IN THE HOUSE.
Place Jesus took these disciples up to after these many days.
AFTER SIX DAYS, JESUS TOOK PETER, JAMES AND JOHN AND LED THEM UP ON A HIGH MOUNTAIN APART BY THEMSELVES.
These people kept questioning themselves about what the rising from the dead meant.
THE DISCIPLES WHO WENT WITH HIM: PETER, JAMES AND JOHN.
ALL THE PEOPLE WERE GREATLY AMAZED, AND RUNNING TO HIM, GREETED HIM.
Reason why disciples did not understand His second prophecy and were afraid to ask Him.
MAYBE THEY HAD BECOME SENSITIVE TO HIS REBUKES OR DID NOT WANT TO FACE THE FACT OF JESUS' COMING DEATH.
"If ________ desires to be first, he shall be _______ of all and ___________ of all."
ANYONE / LAST / SERVANT.
Appearance of Jesus transfigured.
JESUS TRANSFIGURED IS CHRIST IN HIS UNCREATED GLORY.
HIS CLOTHES BECAME SHINING, EXCEEDINGLY WHITE, LIKE SNOW, SUCH AS NO LAUNDERER ON EARTH CAN WHITEN THEM.
Jesus says in Mark 9: 12-13:
"Indeed _________is coming first and restore all things. And how is it written concerning the Son of Man, that He must suffer many things and be treated with contempt. But I say to you that ______ has also come, and they did to him whatever they wished, as it is written of him."
ELIJAH / ELIJAH
Question Jesus asked the scribes and reason why Jesus didn't ask the disciples this.
HE ASKED THE SCRIBES, "WHAT ARE YOU DISCUSSING WITH THEM?"
JESUS IS LOYAL /SHOWS RESPECT TO HIS DISCIPLES AND DOES NOT QUESTION THEM ON WHY THEY ARE ARGUING IN FRONT OF THE MULTITUDE OF PEOPLE.
TO SHOW HE IS GOING TO HIS DEATH ON HIS OWN FREE WILL.
The person Jesus says is the model of true discipleship who has all the virtues to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven including, humility, dependence, lowliness, simplicity, obedience and willingness to love and be loved.
A LITTLE CHILD.
OT Prophet that prophesied Transfiguration by saying (similar to Mark 9:3), "I continued to watch until thrones were put in place, and the Ancient of Days enthroned Himself. His clothing was white as snow, and the hair of His head was like pure wool. His throne was a fiery flame, and its wheels a burning fire."
DANIEL 7: 9
This person fulfilled the prophecy of Psalms (David), Isaiah and Daniel which Jesus talks about when He refers to Elijah coming.
JOHN THE BAPTIST.
People Jesus calls, "O Faithless Generation" are these and the reason for it.
ONE OF THE CROWD, THE FATHER OF THE SON WHO HAS THE MUTE SPIRIT.
AND THE DISCIPLES; BECAUSE THEY BOTH LACKED FAITH. JESUS REBUKED THE FATHER FOR PLACING BLANE ON THE DISCIPLES LACK OF HEALING POWER ADN HE REBUKES THE DISCIPLES PRIVATELY FOR THEIR LACK OF FAITH TO HEAL.

FATHER BEARS WITNESS FROM HEAVEN AND SAYS THIS IS MY BELOVED SON, HEAR HIM, INDICATION DIVINE GLORY OF CHRIST.
BRIGHT CLOUD RECALLS TMEPLE WORSHIP AS A VISIBLE SIGN THAT GOD WAS PRESENT TO THE ISRAELITES AND IS STILL EVER PRESENT. PETER RECOGNIZES THIS THE KINGDOM SHOWING ITSELF AND OFFERS TO BUILD THREE TABERNACLES TO SHOW THAT GOD IS ALWAYS DWELLING WITH US.
MOSES AND ELIJAH, THE LAW AND THE PROPHETS, THE LIVING AND THE DEAD ALL BEAR WITNESS TO THE MESSIAH.
HOLY TRINITY/ THEOPHANY IS PRESENTED HERE, WITH THE SPIRIT SHOWING AS DAZZLING LIGHT AROUND THE SON, JESUS, AND THE WORDS OF THE FATHER SPEAKING.
St. John Chrysostom notes that Jesus' rebuke is towards these people and does not include the "pillars of faith, Peter/James/John", as they had been up on the mountain with Christ.
THE NINE REMAINING DISCIPLES.
These people include all who have childlike humility and simplicity, all who are pure in spirit.

BELIEVE / THINGS / BELIEVES

Mark 9:7 speaks about an overshadowing cloud that is first seen over the tabernacle of testimony in Moses' time in this book in Scripture and represents this.
"And a cloud came and overshadowed them; and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, 'This is my beloved Son, Hear Him!'"
EXODUS 40: 34
A CLOUD IS A SIGN OF THE THEOPHANY, PRESENCE OF GOD THE FATHER.
THE REVELATION OF THE THEOPHANY IS TO MAKE THE DISCIPLES' FAITH MORE FIRM.
GREEK WORD FOR HEAR IS USED IN PRESENT TENSE MEANING WE ARE TO LISTEN TO JESUS ALWAYS.
Things that the demon will come out by.

THIS KIND REFERS TO ALL POWERS OF DARKNESS. SICKNESS IN SCRIPTURE IS OFTEN CONNECTED TO DEMONIC ACTIVITY.
