Information used to support an answer or claim. It reassures students that their answers are correct.
What is evidence?
A literary device that creates a contrast between what is said or expected and what actually happens. There are three main types.

What is haunting?
The message the author is trying to convey to the reader. It ties together all other details in a text. It explains what the text is mostly about and can often be summarized in one or two sentences.
What is central idea?
A concise, shortened version of a text that includes only the main ideas and key points, written in your own words. It should provide a basic understanding of the original work without including minor details, personal opinions, or direct quotes.

What are the customs, arts, social institutions, and achievements of a particular nation, people, or other social group.
What is culture?
the friendly and generous reception and entertainment of guests, visitors, or strangers.

What is irrelevant?
The life lesson learned from reading a story.
What is a theme?
To express, suggest, or show something without stating it directly.
What is to imply?
a person or company offering something for sale
What is vendor?
begin to move more quickly; speed up
What is accelerate?
The perspective from which a story is told. It determines who is narrating and how much information the reader gets.
What is point of view?
The way an author organizes information in a text to present it clearly to the reader.
What is text structure?
Give new energy to; revitalize.
What is rejuvenate?
distribute or provide (a service or information) to a number of people.
What is dispense?
"future generations" These people of the future could be your children and great-great grandchildren, or any people who are born after you.
What is posterity?
Hints within the surrounding text (words, phrases, sentences) that help readers figure out the meaning of an unfamiliar word without a dictionary.
