How often something happens.
What is Frequency?
Number of values in the interval; tally how often something (data) happens.
What is a frequency table?
Has numbers and operations but no equal sign.
What is an Expression?
Length of bars are used to represent and compare data in categories; bars do not touch.
What is a bar graph?
Rules we use to solve expressions/equations with more than one operation.
Order of operations or PEMDAS
Facts, numbers, or numerical information.
Data
Type of graph where the bars touch; the height of each bar show frequency.
Histogram
They have the same absolute value but different signs; the sum is zero.
Opposites
The distance of a number to zero; always positive.
Absolute Value
Numbers greater than zero; to the right of zero.
Positive integers
Whole numbers; positive and negative numbers.
Integers
Numbers less than zero; to the left of zero.
Negative integers
Statement that says two mathematical expressions are equal.
Equation
The number being multiplied by itself.
Base
Tells how many times the base number is being multiplied.
Exponent
Letter or symbol that represents an unknown number.
Variable
The number outside the parentheses is multiplied by the number inside the parentheses; gets rid of parentheses so we can combine like terms.
Distributive Property
Numbers can be added or multiplied in any order; the answer is still the same.
Commutative Property
Numbers can be added or multiplied, no matter how they are grouped (parentheses).
Associative Property
The horizontal number line of the coordinate plane.
x-axis
The vertical number line of the coordinate plane.
y-axis
The four sections of the coordinate plane.
Quadrants
The number being multiplied by the variable; the number in front of the variable.
Coefficient
The point on a graph represented by an x, and a y coordinate.
Ordered pair
They have the same variable raised to the same power.
