Claire was asked to write 722.54 in expanded form. She wrote: (7x100)+(2x10)+(2x1)+(.5)+(.4). What is Claire's mistake? Justify your answer.
Claire wrote the whole number correctly but messed up on her decimal. She needs to put the expanded form of .5 (5x0.1) and .04 needs to be in the proper place value and in expanded form. (4x0.01)

Mark says 0.8 is 1000 times bigger than 0.008 Is he correct? Justify your answer.
The 8 in 0.8 is in the tenths place. The 8 in .008 is in the thousandths place. Each place value is 10 times bigger than the last and they are two place values apart so the answer should be: 100 times bigger

Saul seems to have a hard time ordering decimals. He was asked to order from least to greatest and this was his answer: 9.9 9.09 9.009 9.9090 What would you tell Paul if you were his teacher? How could you fix his misunderstanding?
A decimal isn't bigger just because it has more digits. Look at the digits from left to right and compare them as you go. Etc.
