Before asking for help, this is the first thing you should do with the problem.

This is where you should look first after being absent.

Ms. Bustamante says, “Hocus Pocus!” You should respond with this.

You've tried, reread the question, and checked your notes. Before asking the teacher, you should do this.
What is ask three?
During Think-Pair-Share, Partner 1 finishes early. This is what the partners should do.
What is wait for the signal before switching?
Before gluing something into your notebook, you should do this.
What is place it first/check the page and position?
You check PowerSchool and discover missing work. Your next goal should be to do this.
What is make a plan/take action?
At the end of class, you've reset your area and gathered your belongings. Before leaving, you need to do these two things.
What are push in my chair and wait for the teacher to dismiss me?
“I don't get it!” isn't a helpful question. Instead, you should come to the teacher with this.
What is a specific question?
Random groups appear on the screen and you aren't excited about your group. This is how you should react.
What is respectfully—with no comments, groans, or complaints?
This glue technique means putting glue around the edges and making an X through the middle.
What is the cross-box method?
Instead of emailing “What did I miss?” after an absence, you should check these two places.
What are Canvas and the Absent Bin?
During whole-group instruction, these should be on the speaker while side conversations stay off.
What are my eyes and attention?
Your pencil breaks during class, and there is no pencil sharpener. This silent signal tells the teacher you need to trade for a sharp pencil.
What is raising my pointer finger?
At a vertical whiteboard, your group has this many markers and everyone should take turns using it.
What is one marker?
You have six of these each term in the back of your notebook, and unused ones can become extra credit.
What are hall passes?
During a test, you finish before everyone else. After turning it in, this is what you should do.
What is begin the assigned quiet activity and remain silent?
When materials are being passed down your row and they run out before reaching you, this is what the last student with materials should do.
What is raise their hand and wait for the teacher to bring more?
When you ask for help, the teacher will help you think through the problem, but will not do this for you.
What is solve/do the problem for me?
During group work, everyone should contribute. This means you should do these two things when classmates are sharing ideas.
What are listen respectfully and participate/share my ideas?
You make a mistake on a notebook page. Instead of ripping it out or skipping the page, you should do this.
What is ask Ms. Bustamante for help fixing it?
You need to leave the classroom. Before receiving the hall pass, you should have your notebook open to this section and use this hand signal.
