Miss Foley was asked to identify the place value of the 5 in the number: 214.54 and she wrote "the tens spot". Explain Miss Foley's error.
She forgot to write the "ths" at the end of the "ten" which made it an incorrect place value.
First you would write out 103 as 1,000. Once you have it written out you will multiply your decimal by it.242.56 x 1,000 the multiplication sign tells me the decimal moves to the right and the three 0's tells me that it moves three times. So my answer would be 242, 560.
Miss Van Domelen was working on her math homework and got 654.1 % 104 = 0.6541
Explain what she did wrong.
She only moved over three spaces instead of four. Her answer should have been 0.06541
Explain the error: 46.42 + 3.42 = 8.062
They did not align the decimals correctly. They put the 3 in the tens spot but it should have been in the ones spot.
