A comparison of two numbers using division.
What is ratio?
For two or more fractions, it is a common multiple of the denominators.
What is a common denominator?
In an ordered pair, the value that is always written first.
What is X-Coordinate?
A relationship between two numbers indicating how many times the first number contains the second.
What is ratio?
Data for two variables (usually two types of related data). Example: Ice cream sales versus the temperature on that day.
What is bivariate? The two variables are Ice Cream Sales and Temperature.
Numbers that are greater than zero.
What are positive numbers?
A measurement of the amount a container can hold when filled.
What is capacity?
A point where a line crosses the horizontal axis, or x-axis, on the Cartesian coordinate plane.
What is x-intercept?
Rule used when dividing fractions.
What is 'keep, change, flip' or K.C.F?
Two ratios that have the same value when simplified.
What is equivalent ratio?
A numbers used to multiply a variable.
What is coefficient?
A number multiplied by a variable.
What is coefficient?
In a Cartesian (car-tee'-shun) grid, the vertical axis.
What is Y-axis?
A real number that can NOT be made by dividing two integers (an integer has no fractions). Its decimal goes on forever without repeating.
What is an irrational number? Irrational numbers in their decimal form are non-repeating and non-terminating numbers.
The result of the division of one quantity by another.the result of dividing one number by another.
What is a quotient?
An equation that uses symbols to express that two values are not equal.
What is inequality?
A type of rate in which two quantities use different units but remain equal; used to convert a measurement from one unit to another. For example: 8 yards= 288 inches
What is conversion factor?
A point where a line crosses the vertical axis, or y-axis, on the Cartesian coordinate plane.
What is Y-intercept?
A number that can be made by dividing two integers (an integer is a number with no fractional part).
What is rational number?
The amount that you want to divide up.
What is dividend?
A symbol for a number we don't know yet. It is usually a letter like x or y.
What is a variable?
Two quantities are directly proportional when they increase and decrease at the same rate. Or, the ratio between two directly proportional quantities.
What is constant of proportionality?
A group of numbers, symbols, and variables that express an operation or a series of operations.
What is algebraic expression?
It is a fraction where the numerator, denominator, or both contain a fraction. The numerator is 3 and the denominator is 1/2. :
What is complex fraction?
The amount of space inside the boundary of a flat (2-dimensional) object such as a triangle or circle
What is area? For example: A = lw (rectangle)
