When temperature increases it causes matter to expand or contract?

Expand - or take up more space

when changes occur- warm or hot will causes changes to occur faster or matter to expand more

When you cut a slice of bread into 2 pieces is this a chemical or physical change?

Physical Change- change of shape or size

100

What state of matter is water?

liquid

200

When we put the kool aid into room temperature water it dissolved. Would warming the water cause it to dissolve faster or slower?

faster- heat causes the atoms to move around faster and the moving atoms break down the powder faster.

200

When you gain weight or loose weight, is this a chemical or physical change?

Physical Change- change of size or shape
200

what state of matter is a table?

solid

300

If I place sugar in water and place it in the freezer will it dissolve faster or slower than sugar in room temperature water?

slower - the atoms move slower and therefore dissolve slower

300

When I mix eggs and flour to create cookies is this a physical or chemical change?

Physical- it can be undone

300

what state of matter is a powder?

solid

400

When I place large objects in water will they dissolve faster or slower than smaller objects?

slower- smaller objects dissolve faster
400

When I bake bread I use yeast and mix it with flour- I then place the yeast and flour mixture into the fridge- lowering the temperature and allowing the yeast to grow. Is this a chemical or physical change

This is a chemical change- yeast, when wet will give off a gas bi product - yeast gives off a gas and therefore it causes chemical changes

400

what state of matter is oxygen?

gas

When we made volcanos we used room temperature vinegar, and observed a chemical change, and concluded that vinegar and baking soda create a chemical change. In science we must 1st hypothesize, and the preform the experiment, and then preform it again without change. Why is this important

To make sure that our hypothesis is correct and that the experiment was accurate. Only after we try the experiment multiple times with the same result. Could we change the variables- such as temperature.

When I play with fireworks I must light the match and then the sulfur inside the fire work explodes- is this a chemical or physical change?

Chemical - it can not be undone the sulfur explodes and gives off a light and gas explosion

if I heat up a liquid what will it change to

a gas it will evaporate
