This is the guest policy.

What is a resident student can sign in up to two overnight guests for no more than 2 nights in a 10 day period? Guests must be escorted by host throughout the building and signed in.

A good RA does this every night at the beginning of their on-call shift.

(For Lincoln/Foster) What is check in at the Public Safety Desk, pick up and sign for mail/packages, and begin RA office hours at 7:30pm. (For Lancaster/Salisbury) What is be on campus with the duty phone charged and on.

This is the condition in which students must have their rooms upon move-out

What is must have all personal belongings removed, remove all rubbish, and leave rooms in broom-clean condition.


We do not charge for wear-and-tear.  Any damage beyond that could be charged.

These are the quiet hours in the Res. Halls.

What is Sunday-Thursday: 10:00pm-7:00AM, Friday-Saturday: 11:59 pm-Noon. The Residence Halls always have 24-Hour Courtesy Hours and 24-hour quiet hours during finals

The duty RA completes rounds each evening at these times.

What is one round each night after office hours (around 9:30 pm) on weeknights, and one after quiet hours on weekends. Then as needed based on activity in the building.

The university has the right to enter rooms under the following conditions.

What is a residents' room may be entered without advance notice or prior consent by authorized personnel, or authorized agents of the University, whenever there is a reasonable cause concerning the health, safety and/or welfare of individual residents and/or the Residence Hall community at large.  The University reserves the right to enter rooms/apartments for making routine repairs, to inspect spaces and to clean in preparation for new residents, and in emergency and/or policy violation situations.

This is the alcohol policy.

What is alcohol is permitted in residence hall rooms with closed doors. All hallways, common areas, and event spaces (such as Ballroom or 9th floor of 25 Foster are dry areas).  Students must be 21.  Roster has ages.

"Help!  I'm locked out of my room.  Can you help me? How?"

What is, yes, RAs can help let students in their rooms when on-call and/or during office hours.  Students get one free lock-out each semester, RAs check the ID/roster, and complete the lock-out form.  RA retrieves the Master key from secure location and immediately returns after the lock-out.

Name five items that are prohibited in all the residence halls.

What are lofted beds (other than standard bed risers); refrigerators that exceed size limits of each Residence Hall; microwave ovens greater than 1,000 watts; hot plates; portable stovetops, burners, gas or charcoal grills or any appliance that uses an open coil or flame; freezers (except those that are part of permitted refrigerators); air conditioners; space heaters; halogen lamps; sun lamps; black lights; live holiday decorations (including string lights); dart boards; weight lifting equipment; firearms, switch blades, pepper spray/mace, knives (except over the counter silverware with blades not exceeding four inches in length and designed and used for eating and food preparation purposes), or other weapons of any nature or description as outlined in the Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 269, Section 10 (e.g., fireworks, explosives, bows, arrows, slingshots, air-guns, martial arts devices, etc.); illegal drugs; drug paraphernalia; hookahs, bongs or other smoking devices; hazardous chemicals; gasoline; candles (with or without a wick); incense; automobiles or vehicles of any kind (or parts, repair tools, accessories for any vehicle); hoverboards and similar devices containing lithium ion batteries; television/radio antennae placed outside the room/exterior of the building or adjacent grounds; waterbeds; and inflatable pools. Nathan Foor works with Pharmacy, Occupational Therapy and Acupuncture

Lynn works with all other programs (Nursing, PA, DMS, DH, DPT, Optometry)

This is the process when a student wants to have furniture removed from their rooms (an extra bed, a couch)

What is there isn't a process!  It isn't allowed. All furniture that was in the room at check in should be there at check out in good condition

"I'm a great RA, I did all of these things on rounds!"

What is checking for safety hazards, work orders, fire extinguishers, propped doors, outdated fliers, active policy violations. You can also take this time to check in on residents that you do not see frequently, establish connections with residents, etc.  Always document issues!
