Kindergarten has NO Buddy System. If a kid needs to go to the washroom, they need to take enough children to keep ratio.

The first staff gathers and counts children, leads them to the designated area. Second staff ensures no children are left, gets backpack and medication, closes classroom and counts children on the way out.
Both educators confirm attendance before releasing any children.
When calling sick, how many hours is the acceptable policy to call before your shift starts?
Two hours minimum in the afternoon.
For morning shift, staff cannot call before 6 AM.
(However, called the night before if you are not feeling well.)
What medications can children self-carry, previously approved by their parents? And where are all the other medications kept in our program?
EpiPen and Puffers can be self-carried by children according to their individual plan. All other medication can be located in the backpack, fridge or locked container in the classroom, based on the instructions.

Staff reports the situation to Supervisor immediately, document information from all witnesses before leaving the premises, follow the policy's documentation procedures.Record of the Serious Occurrence is done in the logbook from the corresponding room. Printed Serious Occurrence Notification Form is located on the trifold board in the classrooms.
How does professional supervision of children look like?
Keep children in field of vision, engage with children in activities (no sitting unless you're engaged in an activity with kids), staff refrain from talking only to each other, ensure children do not climb fences or leave classroom unsupervised, open gates or throw sand outside the sandbox.
Are classroom staff allowed to have their personal phones to check the time, check temperature or play music in the classroom?
No. Personal devices remain locked away.
Temperature can be checked prior to start of program, time you can check on classroom clock or MCRC cellphones.
Music is only used on the laptops.
Are Before and After school educators allowed to take vacations throughout the school year?
No.
Should you require off, you must give a 2-week notice period. Any planned vacations, or other time off should be used during March Break, Winter Break and Summer Break.
