Editing provides distinct rhythm and offers tension based off of the speed of cuts.

Sound which has its source in the scene.
What is diegetic sound ?
Strategic inclusion of position and function to support narrative.
Can be used a a recurring motif.
What is a prop ?
Action centers around singers/ dancers.
What is a backstage musical ?
The position of the camera that makes a character look empowered.
What is a low angle ?
Elements from the previous scene match element in the next.
What is a match cut ?
Opposite of harmony, sound harsh or unpleasant, suggest something is wrong or about to go wrong.
What is dissonance ?
Make up style that dramatically alters appearance.
What is special effects make up?
Symbols with a special meaning.
What is iconography ?
Any shot in which the camera moves forward, backwards, or laterally.
What is tracking shot ?
audio of next scene proceeds and image stays the same (hear shot b before you see shot b - still on shot a )
used for - dialogue,transitioning to flashback/ memory
What is a J cut ?
Beat forming a pattern, rapid or slow, regular or irregular, produces different emotional effects.
What is rhythm ?
portions of darkness on an object (opposite of highlight).
What is a shadow?
based a little bit off of historical events. Normally the plot is a conflict between civilized order and the lawless frontier.
