After moving to Iceland Erik got married and built a farm.  Around 980 AD, Erik’s slaves accidentally triggered a landslide that crushed the house of his neighbor,  The neighbor’s relative responded by killing the slaves of Erik.  In retaliation, Erik killed that relative and another person. The dead mens family then prosecuted Erik in court for the killings and Erik was banished from that part of Iceland and had to move to a different part.

No!  It is embroidery.   What is the difference between a tapestry and an embroidery?  A tapestry is something that’s woven on a loom, whereas an embroidery is thread stitched onto a cloth background.

This time it was for manslaughter. It was over a setsokkr.   A Setsokkr is an ornamented beams with Viking symbols. Vikings believed setsokkr’s  held mystical value. Erik had entrusted a friend to watch over it while he built his house.  When he came to get it back the man wouldn’t give it back to him. Erik took it by force and as a result people were killed including the friends two sons. Erik was banished from Iceland for 3 years.

At the end of the feast William asks Harold to put his hands flat on the table and swear that when Edward dies he will give William the throne. Out of fear Harold swears it. William then takes off the tablecloth and shows that there was a box with the bones of saints in it. Harold had sworn an oath on sacred relics. Now he was bound to keep his promise.
