Describe the Feudal System
The feudal system was a social structure in medieval Europe where a lord granted land to a vassal in exchange for loyalty, service and protection. At the top was the king, who owned all land and granted large portions to nobles in exchange for military service and other pledges from the knights. Lords, in turn, would grant land to lesser lords. Peasants were bound to the land and provided labor, crops, or payments to their lord in return for protection and a place to live.
