What is a bystander?

Someone that doesn’t speak up when something is happening around them.

FALSE.  We care about all parts of your life and make the connection of how those parts may impact you at school. When we talk to you about your grades and credits, we want you to succeed and help you accomplish your goals.

If you need to speak with a counselor, how do you let them know?

You must complete a "request to see a counselor" form located in your classes or in the front office. You can complete the form and turn it into your teacher (who will then deliver to us) or deliver it to the front office.

Many studies have found that it is most common to be bullied by a group rather than an individual. However there are studies which have found it more likely to be bullied by an individual.

What does confidentiality mean?

It means that what you say to a counselor stays with the counselor, although there are times where counselors have to breach confidentiality.

What's the difference between tattling and reporting?

Tattling is when someone tells an adult trying to get someone else in trouble. Reporting is when there is a serious issue and the behavior needs to stop immediately.

FALSE. Students may not do well on a test or in a class for many different reasons that has nothing to do with intelligence (pandemic, family tragedy, personal issue, conflict with friends, anxiety etc).

We will accept a variety of different answers!

Examples: Ask them to stop.  Walk away. If they don’t stop, tell an adult immediately.

FALSE! If someone is in danger, you need to let an adult know right away. Sometimes we don't receive counselor notes right away, so if there is an emergency we wouldn't see it in time. PLEASE tell your teacher and they can have you speak to a counselor or administrator right away.

What are the 5 types of degrees you can earn after high school?

Associates Degree- community college, usually two years (CSN).

Professional Certificate/Trade- mechanic, hairstylist, cosmetologist etc.

Bachelors Degree- four year university (UNLV or UNR).

Masters Degree- can only be obtained after receiving bachelors degree, and is a more advanced and specialized education in a particular topic.

Doctorate (Juris Doctor/PhD)- can only be obtained after receiving bachelors degree, and is a more advanced degree to practice or dedicated to research.
