Put your name next to both the PUI and Case file listed under Meghan's name on DE-dupe excel sheet
How do you search for a repeat positive case?
In CommCare, click on "repeat positive" bin, scroll down to green search cases button & input MPI (using a capital P!)
Case has original positive test date of 3/1/21. Case has second test date of 4/10/21 but tells you they have not had any symptoms since 3/7....what scenario would this fall under?
Why that would be Scenario A!
A RPP case first tests positive on 12/10/20. Second positive test is done on 4/18/21 but the person has been asymptomatic since end of last isolation period. Does this person still have to isolate?
Yes, Of course they do!! Why? Because second test was outside of umbrella period!
Your PUI file has an OPEN Case file. What do you do?
De-dupe the PUI file into the Case file. If it is after 5pm on Friday and before 7pm on Sunday, you can go ahead and assign that Case to yourself, complete the initial. During the week, dont even go there.
What is one way of determining which file is the PUI as opposed to the Case file?
The Case file will have an MPI number
What is I use the green search button but I can't find my file? How should I mark this file?
Mark as file expired on excel sheet and mark date of status. Files will expire after 14 days
What is the "umbrella period"?
90 days from end of last isolation period to new test date
Case refuses to provide contacts but otherwise completes initial interview, what should you do?
Do not include in refusal log unless it is a full refusal. Do not elevate refusal to provide contacts but instead indicate in your top note that Case refused to provide contacts
What is this mess?! I have multiple PUI files!! What do I do?
Deduplicate the older exposure file into the most recent exposure file date.
What are some identifer's you can use when comparing if the PUI is the same person as the Case?
DOB, address, home telephone number
What prework needs to be done on RPP files?
Evaluate lab results. If you do not see 2 or more lab results in Case file, notify your Supervisor. Copy & paste lab results & Patient info into a holding area such as excel of Microsoft word sheet- Remember, this information is coinfidential medical records and must not be saved!
If symptom onset is more than 72 hours before test date, when should isolation period begin?
The day of test date
What are the conditions that must be met in order to be considered a "breakthrough" case?
Case MUST be fully vaccinated
Moderna/Pfizer - 15 days after Case had their 2nd dose qualifies as fully vaccinated
Johnson & Johnson - 15 days after Case had their single dose qualifies as fully vaccinated
Case MUST test positive
Case MUST be symptomatic (expected mild symptoms)
Case MUST be vaccinated in NYS
What if the info in the PUI file is correct and the Case file is incorrect?
You can change the PUI info with a note and deduplicate. DO NOT change Case file info, as this is how lab results are matched. Any inconsistencies should be clearly noted in the top note.
What do you copy from PUI file into Case file?
All notes and relevant information in PUI file such as Emergency contact, PCP, Occupation, LDW, Symptom onset, test dates/location, HH#/members, contacts etc....Keep in mind that PUI file will be closed with no further access so you basically want to transpose any pertinent information.
Before beginning RPP interview, what to factors must be verified to be in HIPPA compliance?
DOB & address
If a RPP file has an invalid telephone number and both CT Assist and L/N search does not reveal any additional contact info for RPP file, what should you do?
Send an e-mail listing the MPI to Supervisor who will forward to the County. If the County cannot find additional info, they will let Supe know. He/She will then instruct you to close the case.
What do you mark for initial disposition when a Case is living in a nursing home, assisted living, group home, rehabilitation, dormitory, etc?

PUI states they have tested negative but they have symptoms. What do you do?
Call PUI, document test site/date.
Convert back to contact and leave open if QT period is still active. IF QT has ended, release from QT & close out as f/up complete.
DO NOT ADJUST QT PERIOD
Aside from transposing notes & all relevant info, what else should you include in your top note in Case file?
All consistencies and discrepancies between the PUI and Case file
After verifying DOB & home address, what else should you confirm with RP before assessing symptoms?
All test dates in Case file. Try to get as much test info as possible ie: location & reason for test
IF A FILE IS UNREACHABLE OR UNSUCCESSFUL, SHOULD YOU JUST MARK THE REINFECTION QUESTION "YES" TO ERR ON THE SIDE OF CAUTION?
IF A FILE IN UNREACHABLE OR UNSUCCESSFUL, THE REINFECTION QUESTION IS LEFT BLANK! IT SHOULD NOT BE MARKED AS "YES" OR "NO". THAT WAY THE STATE HAS THE CORRECT DATA. BY ANSWERING THIS QUESTION IT WILL REMOVE THE FILE FROM THE BIN WHEN IT SHOULD REMAIN!
What do you include in your daily file count when working on the RPP project?
You will continue to track calls from the Repeat Positive Project on the Daily Count Form. All interviews completed, unreachables and follow ups from the Repeat Positive Project should be counted as normal. Calls that result in a repeat positive being classified as a continued positive are not tracked.
PUI has no Case file in CC but states they have tested positive. Now what?
Call PUI, give isolation instructions, assess CSS needs
Reset QT start date as day of symptom onset in CC
Search daily for Case file. If Case file enters
CC, de-dupe PUI into Case file.
If PUI states they have test result but there's no Case in CC, email Meghan
If no Case is ever created, Call PUI on Day 10 & follow protocol for isolation release.
