What is self care?

The intentional (on purpose) actions you take to manage stress, big feelings, or to unwind and relax each day. 

Practicing self care is vital to having healthy mental health as well as overall wellbeing and physical health.

Why is it important to be aware of our own mental health? 

 Practicing Self-awareness ( the act of reflecting and checking in on our own wellbeing), can assist us as individuals in recognizing our warning signs and understanding what emotions we may be feeling. 

. When we are more aware of out emotions and feelings we understand how to better care for ourselves and practice self-care.

The connection between body and mind

  • Many times when we experience stress, anxiety, sadness, our body will begin to feel side effects or physical symptoms (tummy aches, headaches, etc). 

  • When we recognize some of these symptoms it is time to time to practice self- care and positive coping.

What are some things you can do to cope with stress?

Exercise, play sports, listen to music, talk to a friend/ trusted adult, take deep breaths, go on a walk, practice gratitude, practice positive self talk (encourage and compliment yourself), listen to music, journal
