What is the clipboard?
After selecting a word, the background of each letter is filled in with a color.
What is highlighting?
The blank area between the text and the page (and the edge of the paper)
What is margin?
A grid made up of rows and columns of cells
What is a table?
What indicates where text appears as you type?
What is the insertion point (cursor)?
A text or graphic that when clicked "jumps the viewer to a different location or program
What is a hyperlink?
Word Feature that allows you to copy all the format settings applied to selected text to other text
What is painter (format paintbrush)?
Space where text or graphic that appears at the bottom of every page of the document
What is footer?
What word describes listed data alphabetically or sequentially (a-z or 1-10)
What is ascending?
Special characters that appear on your screen but do not print (you can see them with the Show/Hide tool).
What are formatting marks?
Command used to remove text from a document and place it in the Clipboard
What is cut?
A unit of measurement equal to 1/72 of an inch (think of the size of a character)
What is a point?
A grid of columns and rows that you can fill with text and graphics
What is a table?
Combining adjacent cells into a single larger cell
What is merge?
Appears faintly above text when you first select it, contains commonly used commands
What is the mini tool bar?
Command used to insert text stored in the Clipboard into a document
What is paste?
An image that is inserted as part of a line of text
What is an inline graphic?
A parenthetical reference in the document text that gives credit to a source (to show you are not plagiarizing)
What is a citation?
A cell address composed of a column letter and row number
What is cell reference?
Formatted document that contains placeholder text which you replace with your own
What is a template?
Feature used to suggest synonyms for words
What is the thesaurus?
A point on the horizontal ruler that indicated the location at which to align text (left, decimal, right)
What is tab stop?
A formatting mark that forces the text following the mark to begin at the top of the next page
What is a manual page break?
When your text continues on automatically from one line to the next
What is word wrap?
