He laid out mooncakes and fruits for her.

After Chang E ascended to the moon, Hou Yi was heartbroken and missed his wife deeply. To show his love and longing for her, he would set up an altar with her favorite foods and offer sacrifices to her. This act of devotion and remembrance is said to be the origin of the Mid-Autumn Festival, where people celebrate by eating mooncakes and gazing at the moon, hoping to catch a glimpse of Chang E. This festival is a time for family reunions and expressing love and gratitude, much like Hou Yi's dedication to his beloved wife.

Chinese Filipinos like to play Pua Tiong Chiu ( 博餅; ), a popular dice game that is said to have originated from China’s Fujian province – where most of the country’s Chinese immigrants first came.

The game consists of rolling six dice into a large bowl; the winner, based on number combinations, gets mooncake as a prize. To win the largest piece of mooncake, you need to roll at least four “fours” or five of the same number.
