What is the Immaculate Conception?
The Immaculate Conception celebrates Mary, from the first moment of her conception, being free of all original sin. Celebrated on Dec. 8, the Immaculate Conception is often confused with the Annunciation (Mar. 25), which is the proclamation to Mary that she was to be the mother of Jesus and the Assumption of Mary (Aug. 15) which is the Virgin Mary's assent into heaven.
