What is a Simile?
Example: Conflict where the protagonist is struggling with himself/herself/themselves.

Example: The point in the story when the conflict is addressed and a change occurs, usually within the main character.

Definition: Stories with similar conventions or characteristics are grouped into these categories so readers know what type of story they are reading.

Buzz, Hum, Crackle, Fizz, and POW are all examples
What is an onomatopoeia?
Example: When a character has a verbal argument with another character (i.e., verbal, physical).
What is character versus character (man vs man) conflict?
Example: The narrative is written using "I" and it feels like the author is the character.

Example: The chain of related events that tells us what happens in a story.

What is the literal/dictionary meaning of terms?
"The stars will cry the blackest tears tonight.
What is personification?
Example: When a character battles with systems in place (i.e., government) or technology (i.e., artificial intelligence).
What is character versus society conflict?
Example: The reader will feel like the narrator is only talking to them; it is not often used.
What is 2nd person?
Example: This part of the plot includes events that add tension or lead to a major turning point.
What is rising action?
Definition (s): The author's voice or attitude that comes across in what he or she writes and what this creates in a reader.
