Where is the OLYMPIC VILLAGE. In the early days, athletes had to make their own food and lodging arrangements. They were often housed at hotels, schools, military barracks, and even on boats. During the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris, temporary huts were provided. It wasn’t until the 1956 Olympic Games in Melbourne that women athletes were permitted to live in the Olympic villages.

The ancient Olympic Games were abolished in 393 AD. Baron Pierre de Coubertin revived the Olympic Games by creating the International Olympic Committee in 1894. The Baron was a citizen of this country.
What is FRANCE. During the 18th century, many people unsuccessfully tried to revive the Olympic Games. The Baron wanted to introduce sports into the French school system, as in the English and American schools. However, this was met with little interest. To help his contemporaries understand the benefits of sports for youth, he decided to revive the Olympic Games. The reason he was successful, when so many others had failed, is because he immediately gave the Games an international and modern dimension. He saw the Games as part of a wider strategy of education through sports.
