When you evaluate someone else's argument. The task presents a brief passage in which the author makes a case for a course of action or interprets events by presenting claims and supporting evidence.

A figure of speech where an object, person, or situation has another meaning other than its literal meaning.
What is symbolism?
A writer gives an advance hint of what is to come later in the story.
