What is a lesion?
Piles of material on the skin surface, such as a crust or scab, or by depressions in the skin, such as an ulcer.
What is secondary skin lesion?
A chronic condition that appears primarily on the cheeks and nose.
What is rosacea? Rosacea is formerly called acne rosacea and is characterized by flushing (redness) telangiectasis distended or dilated surface blood vessels.
A congenital hypopigmentation, or absence of melanin pigment in the body, including the skin, hair or eyes.
What is Albinism? Hair is silky white. The skin is pinkish white, will not tan, is sensitive to light and ages prematurely.
A recurring viral infection that often presents as a fever blister or cold sore, although many people have no symptoms.
What is Herpes simplex 1? The blister usually appear on the lips, nostrils, or other part of the face, and the sores can last up to three weeks.
A flat spot or discoloration on the skin.
What is a macule?
Skin sore or abrasion produced by scratching or scraping.
What is excoriation? Nail cuticle damage from nail biting is an example.

What is Psoriasis? Psoriasis is caused by skin cells turning over faster than normal and when the condition is irritated, bleeding points can occur.
What is a pustule?
Crack in the skin that penetrates the dermis.
What is fissure? Severely cracked and/or chapped hands, lips, or feet are examples of fissure.
A large, protuding pocket-like lesion filled with sebum.
What is a sebaceous cyst? Sebaceous cysts are frequently seen on the scalp and the back and my be surgically removed by a dermatologist.
Is a condition characterized by hyperpigmentation on the skin in spots that are not elevated.
What is Chloasma? Chloasma is also known as the mask of pregnancy and is generally caused by cumulative sun exposure.

What is keratoma? A callus is a keratoma that is caused by continued, repeated pressure or friction on any part of the skin, especially the hands and feet. If the thickness grows inward, it is called a corn.
Abnormal mass varying in size, shape, and color. Any type of abnormal mass. Requires medical referral.
What is a tumor?
What is keloid. Keloids will form along any type of scar for people susceptible to them.
A closed follicke, not exposedc to the environment - its sebum remains a white or cream color.
What is a closed comedo or whitehead? It appears as a small bump just under the skin surface.
Is a skin disorder characterized by light, abnormal patches (hypopigmentation).
What is Leukoderma? Leukoderma is caused by a burn, scar, inflammatioon, or congenital disease that destroys the pigment-producing cells. Examples are vitiligo and albinism.
Excessive sweating, caused by heat or general body weakness. Requires medical referral.
What is Hyperhidrosis?
Closed, abnormally developed sac that contains pus, semifluid, or morbid matter, above or below the skin. Requires medical referral.
What is a Cyst and/or tubercle? A cyst can be drained. A Tubercle cannot be drained.
Thick, dry, or oily plate of epidermal flakes.
What is scale? Examples of scale is excessive dandruff, and psoriasis.
A skin condition caused by an inflammation of the sebaceous glands, and is often characterized by redness, dry or oily scaling, crusting, and/or itchiness.
What is seborrheic dermatitis. The red, flaky skin often appears in the eyebrows and beard, in the scalp and hairline, at the middle of the forehead, and along the sides of the nose.
Small yellow-colored or brown-colored spots on skin exposed to sunlight and air.
What is Lentigines? Lentigines is the technical term for freckles.
What is Eczema? The most common type of eczema is atopic eczema, which is an inherited genetic disorder. Eczema is not contagious. Medical referral is required.
